The Players 4 Players Table
The Players 4 Players Open World Championship and the P4P Nation's Cup will be played at 65 tables of the type "P4P Tournament". The picture shows the current model that we are using at our tournaments since the beginning of 2007.
The P4P Tournament Table is made by Lehmacher and has replaced the tables that were used until 2000 at the tournaments organized by Löwen-Sport. Those tables in turn were improvents of the old Tournament-Soccer tables (the "Million Dollar Table"). This can still be seen by the design of the player figures.
Table Characteristics
Some of the characteristics of the P4P Tournament Table (especially meant for players coming from other tables):
- Goal: The goal is 20,5cm wide, identical to Tornado and several other tables.
- Handles: The handles are polygonal-shaped and comparatively rough, the shape is again similar to Tornado. They are made from a special plastic that allows for play without additional methos to improve grip. Most professional players prefer to use rubbers, tennis wraps, gloves and the like, though.
- Rods: Until 2006 the rods were made from massive steel which made them quite heavy. Since 2007 we are using hollow rods made from specially hardened steel, giving the rods similar weight and playing characteristics as on Tornado, Garlando and other hollow-rod tables.
- Player Figures: To this day, you can still see the roots of the "Million Dollar Table" in the player figures. The form of the foot makes for easy pinning of the ball, which facilitates good playability for pin-shot or jet shooters. Pull shot or tic-tac style, on the other hand, while not impossible, are considerably harder to execute than e.g. on a Tornado table. This is due to the smaller side of the player foot, and also to the characteristics of the ball.
- Ball: Since 2009 we are using a ball made by Leonhart; this ball is also certified by DTFB and ITSF. The ball is made from special plastic and is rather grippy, making it easy to pin. Compared to a Tornado ball, it's about 4g lighter, but not as light as the cork balls used on some other tables.
- Play field: The play field is made from slick, platic-coated MDF. By means of the grippy ball it is nevertheless quite easy to control and pin the ball without losing it. The corners of the play field besides the goals are slightly raised so that no balls can go "dead" in the corners.
