Hey Leute,
Letztes Wochenende fand das P4P Open in Bamberg statt. Danke hier nochmal an das ganze Bamberger Team! Es war echt Spitze und das Essen war super lecker! Good Job!
Das Besondere an diesem Turnier war, dass wir hier zum ersten Mal einen neuen Turniermodus ausprobiert haben. Ihr seid sicher alle ganz gespannt wie er sich bewährt hat und wie das Feedback der Spieler auf dem Turnier war. Hier jetzt das Wichtigste kurz zusammengefasst:
WAS WOLLTEN WIR MIT DEM MODUS HAUPTSÄCHLICH ERREICHEN?

Früherer Endzeiten des Turnierbetriebes am Samstag und Sonntag

Bessere Planbarkeit des Endes am Sonntagabend bzgl. der Heimreise der Spieler und Helfer

Weniger Blockierungen allgemein und von einigen wenigen Topspielern

Weniger Wartezeit und Leerlauf für alle
WIE IST ES NUN GELAUFEN?

Am Samstag haben wir ?um 22:30? keine Spiele mehr aufgerufen (stattdessen konnte man noch gemütlich beisammensitzen oder ins Hotel fahren und entspannen)

Am Sonntag waren wir bereits ?um 18:00? mit allen Spielen bis auf die letzten Seniorenbegegnungen fertig – viel früher als normalerweise!
WIE WAR DAS FEEDBACK DER SPIELER VOR ORT?

Das mündliche Feedback sowie die Auswertung der Fragebögen ergab, dass fast allen der neue Modus entweder „etwas besser“ oder sogar „deutlich besser“ gefallen hat

Aus Sicht der Turnierleitung waren wir, was den Zeitplan und den flüssigen Turnierablauf betrifft, sehr zufrieden
WAS HEISST DAS NUN FÜR DIE ZUKUNFT?

Das Turnier in Bamberg hatte keine 300 bis 400 Teilnehmer, daher können wir nicht 100% sagen, wie es mit so vielen Teilnehmern läuft

Wir hatten in Bamberg aber nur 24 Tische und waren so früh fertig, dass uns das positiv stimmt. Wir gehen davon aus, dass mit diesen Änderungen auch ein Großturnier deutlich früher zu Ende ist wie bisher, wo wir dann mit bis zu 80 Tischen kommen

Wir testen beim Allgäu Open Ende August den Modus nochmals und holen weiteres Spielerfeedback ein. Wenn das Feedback sowie die anderen Kriterien wieder so gut ausfallen, überlegen wir ernsthaft, bereits auf der diesjährigen DM diesen neuen Modus zu spielen. Wir entscheiden das Anfang September
- Insgesamt also ein sehr positives Testwochenende und spannende Zukunftsaussichten

Here now, for our non-German speaking community, all the important feedback about the last P4P tournament where we tested a new tournament system.
From the 20th to 21st of July the P4P Open took place in Bamberg, Germany. A big thanks to the whole Team from Bamberg. Great Job done and the food was really good.
What was special about this tournament is the fact that we tested a new tournament system for the first time. We are sure you are excited to hear how it went and what feedback we got from the participants at the tournament. Here in short the most important facts.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH A NEW TOURNAMENT SYSTEM?
- Finishing the tournament earlier than normal on Saturday and Sunday
- Better predictability when the tournament will be finished on Sunday, so you can plan your return journey easier
- Less games being blocked (because you are waiting for top players to finish their match first)
- Less waiting time between matches
HOW DID IT GO?
- On Saturday we did not call any matches after 22:30 (instead you could sit together and chat or go back to your hotel and relax)
- On Sunday all matches were finished at 18:00, except a few senior matches, much earlier than normally
WHAT FEEDBACK WE GOT FROM PARTICIPANTS?
- The oral feedback and the filled out questionnaires showed that nearly everybody said they liked the new system “slightly better” or even “much better”
- The tournament staff was very happy about the time schedule and the smooth tournament running in general
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE FUTURE?
- The Fränkische Meisterschaft did not have 300-400 participants, so we can’t be 100% sure how this will work with this much people
- In Bamberg we only had 24 tables, and still the tournament was finished so early. We think that with this new system also a big tournament will finish much earlier, because we will then bring up to 80 tables
- We will test the new system also at the “Allgäu Open” end of august and will again ask players for feedback. If again the feedback is as good as from this tournament, we are very seriously thinking to use this new system for this years “P4P German Championship”. We will decide this in the beginning of September
- All in all a very positive testing weekend and exciting future prospects
